Virtual Education Program

The Distance CME program started on February 2011. This program is implemented by videoconference network based on Polycom multipoint technology.

At present, numerous events are organized each week with dozens of physicians and nurses participating directly from their virtual auditoriums in each of the 9 telemedicine centers. These are some of the events that are periodically organized:

  • International Trauma Tele Grand Round: a weekly event organized by a network of American universities, where surgeons, trauma and intensive care physicians participate
  • Trauma Grand Round: a monthly event organized by the IVeH, in the context of the USAID funded project
  • Webinar “Specializing Together”: is organized every two weeks from the University of Piedmont (Italy) with radiologist from TUHC “Mother Therese” attending
  • Intensive course for the Nursing Care of Patients with Neurological Problems, directed by the Albanian Neurosciences Nurses’ Association
  • Numerous other events organized by professional medical associations in Albania and Kosova.

Thanks to the opportunities offered by ITEHP, dozens of physicians, nurses and students of the Medical and Nursing Faculty participate in events without detaching themselves from their daily professional or academic activities.

Professor Mentor Petrela gave the first lecture transmitted in the PITSHE network, on “Current Management of Aneurismal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage”. Over 300 participants from Telemedicine Centers in Albania and Kosovo made this inaugural event the most attended one until now. PITSHE organizes lecture cycles or other educational events, highlighted seminars about teleradiology, international teletrauma network, and yearly lecture cycles transmitted from Telemedicine center in Kosovo, as well as other lectures.
