INAGURATION EVENT “Albania Leadership Telemedicine Training Program (ALTTP)” in Tirana

The ALTTP took place in Tirana, Albania on July 15-16, 2010 at the Tirana International Hotel and Conference Center. The course was the first of a series of trainings for Albanian doctors and health professionals on telemedicine and e-health. The Minister of Health, Dr. Petrit Vasili, delivered the opening speech, defining the telemedicine program “one of the priorities of his mandate”. The goal of the training program was to create local and national awareness of the Telemedicine and e-Health Program of Albania, while educating leadership officials and personnel from healthcare institutions. Overall, the first ALTTP in Tirana was a great success. The program was an important piece in the implementation of a robust telemedicine program in Albania. A press release was sent by USAID (USAID Launches New e-Health Program), the University of Arizona (see attachment), and the SETimes (Albania initiates telemedicine project ).

The program was also featured in the Albanian media; national broadcasters such as TVSH, Top Channel, TV Klan etc., included telemedicine in their regular news programs, whereas daily papers published articles related to the seminar.
