INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF TELEMEDICINE AND E-HEALTH – 5th Intensive Balkan Telemedicine and e-Health Seminar
The last activity on leadership developments was the participation of healthcare leaders and practitioners for the “International Congress of Telemedicine and e-Health” organized by the International Virtual e-Hospital on December 9-11, 2012 in Prishtina, Kosova. The opening ceremony of the Congress was attended by numerous dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of Albania, H.E. Sali Berisha, Prof. Dr. Ferid Agani, Minister of Health, Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Vangjel Tavo, Minister of Health, Republic of Albania, Representative from US Embassy, Prishtina, Representative of EU, Academic Hivzi Islami, Academy of Science and Arts, Republic of Kosova, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Gashi, Rector, University of Prishtina, Prof. Dr. Vullnet Ahmeti, Rector, State University of Tetova and Prof. Ass. Dr. Naim Haliti, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Prishtina. His Excellency, Prime Minister Berisha delivered his speech “Celebrating the Past – Defining the Future” through telepresence from his Tirana Office. 84 health managers, doctors and nurses from 10 Albanian healthcare institutions attended the congress. In the framework of the congress, the 5th Intensive Balkan Telemedicine and e-Health Seminar took place. The seminar aimed at presenting success stories of telemedicine from all over the world such as Southeastern Asia, USA, Africa, Russia, etc. During the seminar there were presentations on telemedicine within the fields of trauma, emergency medicine, disaster management. Other topics such as Building and Implementing the Infrastructure for e-Health and Role of Women in Telemedicine and e-Health, were presented.
The participation in the International Congress of Telemedicine and e-Health was an extremely important step in building the capacities and leadership of the Integrated Telemedicine and e-Health Program of Albania. The activity was accredited with 17 accreditation points by the NationalCenter for Continuous Education (NCCE).
